The Truth About Grass Fed Meat

The term grass-fed is trending hard right now. But did you know just about all cattle are grass fed? Very few are actually finished on grass.

Why? Because it takes longer.

But here, at 1898 Ranch, we enjoy taking things nice and slow. Our cattle are raised munching away on the nutritious South Dakota prairie grasses. The same ones that were good enough to fatten bison for centuries are the same ones that are good enough to finish our cattle.

They never see a feedlot and are never fed grains. They’re raised on wide open pasture from start to finish. Just like nature intended.

So, while local, grass finished beef doesn’t have grocery store prices, it’s because grocery stores can’t compete with the quality of 1898 Ranch beef.
